Current Study
Dust emissions from poultry farms in the Fraser Valley are resulting in environmental issues and neighbour complaints. The BC SPFG, in previous studies, examined dust emission concentrations and travel from a Fraser Valley broiler farm. Further work, evaluated a dust control technique using trees that was quite successful in controlling emissions. A study is now underway to more comprehensively examine the effect of trees as dust filters for optimal control under various scenarios. The overall intent of this project is to develop some practical tools to use on-farm to either reduce the generation, or control the emission of manure related dust.
